Default Split Port Swap into a 96 Mustang 3.8

Ok here is my project I have been working on.

From the heads up is from a 00 Mustang 3.8
From the block down is from a 99 Mustang 3.8
The fuel Rail is from a 2001 F-150 4.2l Flipped around. I cut off two mounting tabs from a spare rail, and welded them on. I did have to use a dremel to open the holes slight on the welded tabls to line up with the manifold holes.
Headers are from a 1996 Mustang 3.8

One thing to note is when Ford made the split port they did it with a returnless style fuel system that uses the fuel pressure sensor on the rail vs the vacuum controlled fuel pressure regulator. There is no 100% bolt on fuel rail, but using 4.2 ford f-150 flippped around is about as close as it gets.

This should be a much faster swap. I will not need to swap my Headers, or motor mounts & brackets like I have in the past. I will only need to remove the front accessory brackets, clutch, flywheel, and bell housing. I will have the tune done before the swap, so I am hoping to have this done by mid September. So it's almost a straight plug and play (unless I buy another aluminum flywheel and spec clutch).

I used the 1996 Mustang 3.8 Engine harness, with the EV6 Style connectors soldered on, and have the 39lb Ford Racing Cobra injectors installed. I will have to lengthen the wires for the DPFE sensors.

I plan on doing the swap In September, after the last Nasa Event at Sonoma Raceway.

Nice build. What are the expected gains? Also what happened to the SC motor?

I had to smog the car last year, and my son was due to be born. I swapped the stock engine back in February 2015, and put in the stock engine. I wanted to try this split port swap, because it will give me 40hp more than my stock engine. This should be a nice N/A gain, and am hoping it will give me the torque I need on corner exit.

If not then the SC motor is going back in.

I also just picked up a 98 GT. It has a bad throw out bearing. Once I pull the transmission, and verify there is no damage to the transmission I will start the mod process. I'm hoping I will be able to pull the transmission this weekend.

40hp gain is a great pick up. Those are pretty big ports on the split port head an intake manifold. Almost like a blower on it would give it wven more gain.

Nice you were able to pick up another gt. To bad you sold the ford racing blower you had for the 96. You gonna keep the 98 more of a street car like the 96gt?

There are a few people that make an adapter to install the 03-04 blower, but it sits real high. If this swap goes good, then the next project would be to add a turbo.

I am planning on building it to track, and will drive it to work. I'm pretty excited.

I'll have pictures up soon, but I have started the swap. The engine is 100% ready to remove, just need to remove the hood, and it will be out. If everything goes right, I'll have the engine in by Sunday. I'll reload all the pictures that disappeared courtesy of photobucket

Here's a couple more pictures, engine and transmission got installed yesterday. I did end of having to lengthen all the wires for the sensors, and wires to the coil pack. So far so good, no clearance issues. I'll be tinkering on it over the next few weeks, and will post the progess as it comes.
