I just googled it and got this from Answers.com

It should be noted that all Zetec engines (2.0 DOHC) are NOT interference engines. They are listed as interference in most tech manuals but this is wrong. All Data recently corrected this mistake. There are deep reliefs cut into the top of the piston to clear the valves when they are fully extended. There will be no valve damage if the timing belt breaks on a Zetec engine.

Boroscope.... or pull the valve cover rotate the cam by hand and do a leak down test to check if the valve is seating.. in an interference motor, those valves should leak.

But if the fords are non-interference... that's great to know

I cant find it anywhere in the WSM but its in the online engine repair class. If you have a VW that snaps a belt your prolly screwed but in a Ford your ok now if it has a chain it dont take much to bend a valve at all
